Actually, my fears are that nothing gets accomplished due to people being a bit over zealous. The meeting will probably be disturbed, I fully expect some sort of mess to occur.

What we've got here is failure to communicate. Some men you just can't reach, so you get what we had here last week which is the way he wants it. Well, he gets it.

Well, you do know how any govenment agency just loves to "study" and "engineer" things to death. I just hope they don't try to vote on anything tomorrow night. It's too soon. Maybe in a couple of months or so would be more prudent. Besides, whatever the outcome, it will take at least two to three years minimum before anything really gets started. They have to bid for someone to engineer and plan the process. Then, bid for someone to engineer and plan the actual renovations or any other construction required. They have to develop a funding plan and secure sources. All this and more will take time. I would guess that it will probably take as much as five years before anything really begins. But, in the interim, everything could change -- for better or worse.

gentlemen, I believe they already have in their minds what they want to do. I've been involved with local government for 5 years. Hearings are mostly a tool to let the public vent. To make the public feel like they have a voice even if they don't. That's politics. we'll see.

Well, I've been involved with government for nearly two decades and I am not naive to the workings of those in control. I do understand your sentiments, but we as voters and taxpayers should never simply settle for all the backdoor dealings that go on as you imply. They have a responsibility to keep us informed and even though we cannot make decisions directly we can keep their "feet to the fire" so to speak and continue to be diligent and attempt to be an informed and educated electorate. It may not stop any immediate actions, but we can hold them accountable at election time, if we have good enough reason. And, as I've stated many times on this forum, I don't believe anything will be accomplished in short-term (one to two years). Within that amount of time, the winds of change can be blowing in an entirely different direction. They've supposedly been trying to do something for over ten years now!!! Why would things speed up anymore now?!!!

exactly. they are counting on things settling down. but if people don't settle down, they are in trouble.

in reply to the post about budgets , bids and engineering, I have been told no renovations have to take place before it can happen, that wise has room for Pound students and so on. They can work on the improvements later. If that is the case, it could happen next year.

Since the talk is about the 3 schools in the county with the smallest enrollment,, and taking into consideration the there could be X% defection to Castlewood, Clintwood and Norton, the other High Schools could very well 'handle' the increase in enrollment. If so,, this could be phase 1 of consolodation. Just a thought...I think out loud sometimes.
